Today we went to the preview of Zambesi’s latest autumn/winter 2011 collection which they showed before during New Zealand Fashion Week. We have a great backstage video of this show which you can watch on 1AM TV. There are also some snapshots of this show on my intern’s diary. Thanks to the Zambesi preview we could see this total collection now up close and look at the possibilities of al these multifunctional garments. The piece on the 3th photo underneath for example can be worn as a shirt, a scarf and a skirt! Another favorite was the black leather hexagon-patched bag that looked like it was made out of footballs at the next to last photo, this pattern is coming back in lots of other pieces too. The aesthetics of the campus is therefore the key inspiration for the mens collection which also shows in their freshmen jackets. The woman’s collection is inspired by childhood memories which especially comes back in the doll dresses. There were also a lot of beautiful woolen pieces which already made us sweat by even looking at it but they will surely keep you warm next winter! For now we rather stick to summer dresses but this nice collection makes the idea of winter a little less worse (which will be quiet soon for me since I will be back in freezing Holland in January).
